Lepchajagat, West Bengal

This is a very small and serene village which is located in the state of Bengal and this place is situated at a level of 2123 meters above the sea level. The best part about this place is, it is just a few kilometres away from the queen of the hills; Darjeeling. It is also an hour of taxi ride from Darjeeling, and one can land up in a mesmerising place like this. This place has dense forests full of pine and rhododendron trees and one can get to see a brilliant view of Kanchenjunga peak from here if it is a sunny day.

Sangla Valley, Himachal Pradesh

This valley has many small towns at the foot hills of Himalayas in Himachal Pradesh. One must visit Chitkul, the last Indian village in the India and Tibet border. The beautiful view of Sangla valley and the serene bank of Baspa River; which is a tributary of River Sutlej, make this place a perfect place for a quiet holiday. One can also take a visit to Kinnaur valley from Lahul and Spiti here. This place remains closed from December to march due to heavy snowfall so one should avoid visiting during this time.

Gurudongmar Lake, North Sikkim

This is said to be one of the highest lakes in India and it is located in the northern part of the state of Sikkim. One can trek to reach this place by taking the road from Lachen via Thangu. When you reach this place, it offers a mesmerising view of the mountains from all the sides. The lake is situated at a height of 5210 meters and the snow capped mountains around it, make it a view to treasure.

Almora, Uttarakhand

Also known as the heaven of Uttarakhand, Almora is located in the eastern part of this state. The view of the Garhwal Himalayan peaks makes one go awe in astonishment. Apart from the beauty of the breathtaking snow covered mountains, this place is also famous for its wildlife sanctuaries. The Binsar Wild Life Sanctuary is the most popular visiting place here for the travellers. Almora is also a famous for its local cuisines.

Shillong, Meghalaya
If one is planning to visit the north east this year then Shillong is the right place to be. This place has some crystal clear lakes along with some pine trees, lush hills and gushing waterfalls. That is why; it is one of the major tourist attractions when it comes to north east. One can visit the Ward’s Lake, Shillong peak, Umiam Lake, Khasi Hills, Elephant Falls and Mawjymbuin Caves from here. Boating is mandatory in Umiam Lake and if interested one can also go for waterfall rappelling at the Elephant Falls.
